Written in the Stars available on Kindle
The day thirteen-year-old Sophie Watters went to the Spinners concert was the best day of her life, so far. Not only did she get to see Geoff Mann, her one true love in concert, but she also got to meet him backstage. Convinced more than ever that they are meant to be, Sophie realizes her mom was right, dreams really do come true, and fairy tales are more than just a story. Until Sophie’s fairy –tale life is met by an unbelievable tragedy when she lost the one person she was never meant to live without, her mom. Five years later Sophie is still unable to accept her mother’s death, and long stopped believing in fairy tales, dreams, and love. Hoping to save Sophie from the pain that has found her, Sophie's father sends her and her best friend Erin to spend the summer with Sophie’s Nonna in Italy, a place that holds even more painful memories than home. But what Sophie doesn’t realize is that love has a way of not letting go, and her fairy-tale in far from over when her childhood dream resurfaces while in Italy. There she will meet the one person who can fix her broken heart, the one person who can bring her back to life, the only person who can make her whole again, someone completely unexpected, Geoff Mann. But will Sophie be able to get over her fear of love? Can she believe in dreams again? And even more, will she realize she is a dream come true for someone else?

My (bad) advice to young writers...
I'm about to go on a rambling spree so please forgive me. When I first began to attempt writing books, or short stories, I was never able to get past the first page before moving to another idea. That's why I wrote poems. They were easier to finish. I also have a book full of one page stories that I hope I can go back and finish one day. I truly believe that every Author has an unfinished book from when they first started. Okay, maybe not Stephen King, but he's the odd one out, not us. There will be a day, and that one story that you'll start writing and can't seem to stop because for some reason it will be only thing you will think of, see, and hear as if it's a movie being played in your head. That's what happened when I first wrote Written in the Stars. I woke up thinking about it, and spent all night writing it. If was as if I couldn't get it out of my head fast enough. It wasn't until I read it, that I realized a good portion of the story was me. I was able to personally connect to my main character. My advice (maybe not good advice) would be that your first novel, or short story should come from you and not your imagination. Of course, you want to write it in a fiction setting so people can't put two and two together. Don't write it for anyone but yourself. After you finish it, you'll understand what it meant to write it, and you will have also learned how to discipline yourself to now write a full novel, while taking notes on the other idea's running through your head. And if you ever get stuck (writers block) then it's okay to start on a new book to clear your head, because eventually your story will come back to you. Straying from the current novel that you're writing doesn't mean your not being loyal to it. It just means that you love it enough to do it justice, and clear your head before losing it all together. So taking a break, starting a new book is okay in my eyes. However, when you have agent breathing down your necl for a manuscript, thats when you have no choice but to discpiline yourself to write for someone else, and sadly it's also when the magic of writing is taken from you, if you let it. DON'T LET IT!!!...always write for yourself because if you don't like it, then it doesn't matter who does. I hope I helped a little...oh and I always find that music can get me where I need to be to write whatever book I need to write.

A little confession...
Ironically Written in the Stars begins with a diary of a thirteen year old girl a who honestly believes that once people pass a certain age in life, their brains start to die and since she doesn't want to forget what it feels like to be young, she begins documenting what she thinks is important in her life.
And now for my confession...
I have tried numerous times to keep a diary when I was younger. I have at least five different unfinished diaries sitting in my hope chest. They all seem to start out good, and I was a little surprised when I read one that had more than two months of memories written in it. Mind you, it wasn't a full two months, more like once a week for two months and then it was song lyrics I really liked, poems that I wrote, and pictures of my doodle art. That's how all my diaries ended up.
I'm not sure if it's because I lived such a boring life that I had nothing to write about, or if I was what the call A.D.D. now a days, but either way I never finished what I started. (In the diary department).
As I was re-writing Written in the Stars for the umpteen time, I started wondering why I would start the book out with a diary since I was never able to keep one, and that's when it hit me. I had always been interested in keeping a diary, but was never able to discipline myself enough to actually keep up with one so starting WITS out in diary form is my way of proving to myself that discipline comes with age. It may have taken me twenty some odd years, but eventually I was able to actually keep a diary.
